The City of Airdrie, Alberta Installs ESTeem Wireless Modems Cutting-Edge Wireless Network System
KENNEWICK, Wash.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Electronic Systems Technology, Inc. (EST) (OTCBB:ELST), dba ESTeem Wireless Modems, manufacturer of the ESTeemTM product line of narrow band licensed, Ethernet Licensed, and Unlicensed wireless modems, announced today the establishment of the first Canadian city wide wireless network for city employees.
The City of Airdrie, with help from Secure Group, has installed the first successful Mobile Mesh Wireless Network of its kind in Canada. This new initiative enables employees to connect wirelessly into the city network from up to 5 Km away. The broadband connection is accessed with a laptop and wireless repeaters allowing mobile city employees, such as municipal enforcement, to serve residents more efficiently right from their vehicles. Community Peace Officers are the first to use this new technology.
"This system will allow us to provide better customer service, such as accessing current drivers licensing information right on the spot," says Officer McKeage, City of Airdrie Community Peace Officer. "It creates a workstation right in our vehicle, giving us instant access to all the tools we need to do our jobs. It is another example of the City of Airdrie always looking for new technology to make things more efficient for our customers and employees."
"This project has been a great success so far thanks to great superior collaboration between numerous city departments, our vendors and suppliers," says Paul Hurst, project spokesperson.
The project has actively embraced Airdrie's efforts to become more sustainable by substantially reducing employee commutes, avoiding the need to trench new cables and utilizing alternate energy sources. A self-contained solar powered radio repeater, also the first of its kind in Canada for this technology, was installed with additional future repeater locations planned. All solar elements of this solution were purchased from local Airdrie businesses.
"ESTeem Wireless is excited to work with Secure Group and the City of Airdrie to provide Canada's first 2.4 GHz ESTeem Mobile Data Communication System," states Robert Croft, ESTeem MDC Manager. "EST hopes this trend continues throughout Canada."
The ESTeem MDC System offers public safety agencies an affordable solution for their mobile data network requirements. The ESTeem MDC system provides agencies an alternative to existing proprietary data networks. ESTeem systems allow agencies to establish a private Radio Area Network (RAN), free of monthly service fees. The ESTeem MDC System product line offers the customer choices in the narrow band licensed 150 to 174 MHz and 450 to 470 MHz frequencies that operate at data rates of 19,200 bps to the new 195Ep 4.9 GHz and the unlicensed 195Ed 900 MHz high bandwidth frequencies that transmit data to 54 Mbps.
Electronic Systems Technology, a publicly held corporation since 1984, was the first company to develop the wireless modem and receive the United States and Canada patents for this technology.
