Gentex Corporation: Gentex Receives Top Supplier Award From Hyundai-Kia

ZEELAND, MI--(Marketwire - March 18, 2009) - Gentex Corporation (NASDAQ: [ GNTX ]), the leading supplier of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors to the worldwide automotive industry, has received a 2008 Supplier of the Year Award from the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group for its contributions to advanced technologies and overall supplier performance.

Gentex supplies Hyundai and Kia vehicles with interior and exterior automatic-dimming mirrors, which automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer. Several Hyundai and Kia vehicles also offer Gentex's Rear Camera Display (RCD) Mirror as well as other mirror-integrated safety and convenience features.

The award was presented by Mr. Seung-Nyeon Kim, President of Global Purchasing, on behalf of company chairman, Mr. Mong-Koo Chung. The presentation took place at the annual Hyundai-Kia supplier convention on Jeju Island, Korea, where 350 managers from their supply chain convened in January. Gentex was one of 15 suppliers that received the prestigious award -- and the only supplier receiving the award that does not have a manufacturing facility in Korea.

"It is exceptionally gratifying to be recognized by Hyundai-Kia for exceeding their targets for quality and innovation," said Fred Bauer, Gentex chairman of the board and chief executive officer. "This award represents a commitment and dedicated effort by Gentex employees to be a valued supplier."
