HICKSVILLE, NY--(Marketwire - August 20, 2009) - American Defense Systems, Inc. ("ADSI") (
The DHS office of the Under Secretary for Science and Technology has classified APSG's AAR technology an "Approved Product for Homeland Security" after careful review of third party crash tests which demonstrated AAR satisfies the criteria set forth in the federal Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002, otherwise known as the SAFETY Act, as well as its supporting regulations. By providing unique liability protections and limitations in the event of an act of terrorism, the goal of the SAFETY Act is to encourage the development and deployment of new and innovative anti-terrorism products and services that can potentially save lives and property.
The American Anti-Ram Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology supports a product line of active and passive perimeter vehicle barricades that aid in delaying the entry of unauthorized intruders to installations. The AAR products include bollards, crash beams, slide gates, and other vehicle barriers, including SoftStop™. These products complement APSG's Hi-Threat™ line of specially crafted doors, windows, louvers, and security stations designed to resist physical forced entry and bullets. Hi-Threat received the SAFETY Act designation in May 2009. The DHS designation also applies to APSG's supervision of general contractor installation and services of these types of devices.
APSG joins the ranks of other prestigious DHS designees that include ADT Security Systems, Northrop Grumman Space & Mission Systems Corporation, and the Raytheon Company.
"Our APSG products have received thorough review by DHS and we have met their high standards for performance and safety," said ADSI's chief executive officer, Anthony J. Piscitelli. "We believe this designation validates the effectiveness of our American Anti-Ram technology and, as the SAFETY Act intends, this certification will serve to reduce insurance costs and limit potential liabilities for our company, our contractors, and our customers. We expect this to encourage more extensive adoption of our architectural hardening products and the use of our related contractor services, and to further our corporate mission represented by our motto, 'ADSI Saves Lives.'"
