HICKSVILLE, NY--(Marketwire - May 28, 2009) - American Defense Systems, Inc. ("ADSI") (NYSE Amex: [ EAG ]), a leading provider of advanced transparent and opaque armor, architectural hardening and security products for Defense and Homeland Security, reported its physical security subsidiary, American Physical Security Group, LLC ("APSG"), has received the designation of Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology for its Hi-Threat™ product line from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The designation means APSG's Hi-Threat technology satisfies the criteria set forth in the federal Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002, otherwise known as the SAFETY Act, as well as its supporting regulations. By providing liability protections and limitations in the event of an act of terrorism, the goal of the SAFETY Act is to encourage the development and deployment of new and innovative anti-terrorism products and services which can potentially save lives and property.

After careful review and extensive testing by the office of the Under Secretary for Science and Technology, APSG's Hi-Threat technology was added to the list of designated technology on the DHS website at [ www.safetyact.gov ]. The designation distinguishes APSG as a manufacturer and provider of Anti-Terrorism devices designed to protect buildings, access points, and other physical installations. The Hi-Threat technology supports a product line of specially crafted doors, windows, louvers, and security stations designed to resist physical forced entry and bullets. The DHS designation also applies to APSG's supervision of general contractor-provided installation services.

APSG is currently the only designated provider of architectural hardening products, and it joins the ranks of prestigious DHS designees that include ADT Security Systems, Northrop Grumman Space & Mission Systems Corporation, and the Raytheon Company.

"This designation issued by the Under Secretary means our APSG products have received thorough and rigorous testing by DHS in order to meet this standard," said ADSI's chief executive officer, Anthony J. Piscitelli. "We believe this validates the effectiveness of our Hi-Threat technology and, as the SAFETY Act intends, this designation will serve to reduce insurance costs and limit potential liabilities for our company, our contractors, and our customers. Together, we expect this to encourage more extensive adoption of APSG's architectural hardening products and use of our related services."
