GAITHERSBURG, MD--(Marketwire - June 30, 2009) - GXS, a leading provider of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, today announced that its customer, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. (NYSE: [ DPS ]), was named a finalist for the [ VICS Collaborative Commerce Achievement Award ] for Supply Side Excellence. DPS was recognized for its deployment of GXS Price and Promotion Synchronization Service which enables the company to automatically update bottlers and retailers of new pricing and sales promotions and synchronizes that information in backend systems. The VICS award dinner was held in conjunction with U Connect 2009, a conference for retail supply chain professionals hosted by GS1 U.S.

DPS Group is the leading producer of flavored beverages in North America and the Caribbean. The company has more than 50 brands of carbonated soft drinks, juices, teas, mixers, waters and other premium beverages. It contracts with more than 1,400 licensed bottlers and distributors to sell to thousands of retailers throughout the United States, making pricing and promotional activity very complex. In the case of one retailer alone, the number of pricing records for DPS exceeds ten million transactions. Successful price and promotion synchronization can dramatically increase sales and revenue for a product and ensure greater awareness of the product among potential buyers. DPS came to GXS to help improve its price and promotion synchronization with its bottlers and retailers and to help it support Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) standards for price and promotions. As a result of its deployment, more than half of the company's bottlers now can publish pricing in multiple formats including via the GDSN to retailers, ensuring greater price accuracy, smoother implementation of promotional activity and improved customer satisfaction among retailers. The other half of the bottlers will be implemented onto the solution during the remainder of 2009.

"Receiving this recognition from VICS is an honor and is a strong acknowledgment for all of our work on the GDSN pricing pilot and the subsequent successful deployment of GXS Price and Promotion Synchronization service," said Marc Yarbrough, director of technology at DPS Group. "As a result of having price and promotion synchronization, we are more competitive and able to better manage pricing exchange in the multiple levels of our supply chain. We also have had greater success with promotional activity at the store level."

Making the pricing challenge even more difficult for companies like DPS is providing full-truck pricing for the allied brands (non-DPS competitive products) that the company's bottlers/distributors deliver to retailers. Companies must keep pricing and promotional information for different brands securely separated so only the respective brand owners and retailers have access to it. GXS Price and Promotions Synchronization service completely addresses this requirement for DPS and ensures pricing and promotional activity is securely maintained and shared only with approved parties.

"GXS' services and innovation are centered upon what will streamline our customers' supply chain operations and will make them operate more efficiently," said Bryan Larkin, director of retail and consumer products industry marketing. "GXS Price and Promotion Synchronization Service was built specifically for companies like DPS to ease the difficulty of integrating with and satisfy the requirements of their retailers for more accurate price data. The company's successful deployment and the industry's positive response demonstrates the need and viability of such a service for retail suppliers."

GXS Price and Promotion Synchronization Service is a critical part of GXS' extensive portfolio of B2B and supply chain services. Synchronizing price and promotion information is an essential aspect of supply chain performance on which all transactions and associated shipments are based. GXS provides its customers with ongoing price and promotion management and synchronization and comprehensive outsourcing of the people, processes and technology necessary to deploy and maintain complex, global B2B e-commerce programs. In addition, GXS leverages its large base of transactions and data to provide customers with robust order lifecycle management and logistics track and trace tools that ensure shipments align with expectations.
