STAMFORD, Conn.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Harman International Industries, Incorporated (NYSE: HAR) announced today that Mr. David Slump will take the dual position of President, Consumer Audio Division and Vice President Corporate Development , effective immediately. He succeeds Mr. Richard Sorota who has decided to seek an opportunity outside the company. The Company also named Mr. Sachin Lawande as Chief Technology Officer, effective immediately. He succeeds Mr. Helmut Schinagel.

David Slump is a veteran of more than 15 years in a variety of senior positions in business development and turnaround, portfolio management and P&L responsibility. He served most recently as Senior Vice President for energy management leader Landis + Gyr Holdings, where he directed the company's global brand strategy and evaluated portfolio and architecture investments. Slump held earlier executive positions with several global leaders including GE, ABB, and ComEd. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and a Master Degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.

Sachin Lawande has served most recently as Harman International's Chief Innovation Officer, responsible for guiding the Company's software strategy and key development partnerships. He was instrumental in launching an offshore development center in India as part of Harman's strategy for optimizing its global engineering footprint. Lawande joined Harman International in 2006, following key technical assignments at QNX Software Systems (now a unit of Harman International), 3Com Corporation and AT&T Bell Laboratories. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Bombay University in India and a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University.
