Rocmec Reports Preliminary Diamond Drill Results From Its Rocmec 1 Gold Property
VAUDREUIL-DORION, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 9, 2009) - Rocmec Mining inc. (the "company") (TSX VENTURE:RMI) (FRANKFURT:D5O) is pleased to announce preliminary diamond drill results from its 2009 diamond drill campaign at its Rocmec 1 gold property, located in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec.
The analytical results received are from the first surface diamond drill hole RS-01-09 located 5943mE and 2442mN (local grid) with azimuth at 325 degrees North and a 60 degree dip. The objective of the drill hole was designed to intercept the Boucher zone located to the west of the property. Four (4) mineralised structures were intercepted in the diamond drill hole. The samples from the mineralised quartz veins returned grades of 18.96 g/t Au over 0.96m, 10.33 g/t Au over 0.49m, 28.26 g/t Au over 0.07m, 38.40 g/t Au over 0.05m.
McDowell Vein:
The McDowell vein was intersected between 205.41m and 206.38m longhole in a highly altered (biotite-calcite-chlorite) diorite. The apparently sheared interval is highlighted by the presence of calcite in schistosity plans. Mineralisation consists of fine pyrite bands in deformed calcite-quartz veins and veinlets. The wall rock hosts disseminated pyrite. Encountered grades were 8.07 g/t Au over 0.97m including 10.33g/t Au over 0.49m (vein).
Talus Vein:
The Talus vein was intersected between 210.37 and 210.44m longhole in a highly altered (biotite-calcite-chlorite) diorite with disseminated pyrite cut by calcite veinlets. The quartz-calcite-chlorite vein is weakly deformed and contains fine pyrite bands. Encountered grades were 28.26 g/t Au over 0.07m.
Boucher Structure:
The Boucher structure was intersected between 336.0m and 344.0m longhole in a brechiated and highly altered, silicified and sheared andesite. The pyrite mineralisation in the quartz-carbonate vein is in highly chlorite altered shear zone. Encountered grades were 18.96 g/t Au over 0.96m.

Quality control
The diamond drill campaign was conducted under the supervision of Maxime Dupere geo. from SGS Geostat Ltd, a qualified person under the guidelines of National Instrument 43-101. The NQ size core samples were sawed in half, one half kept as reference and the other half sent for analysis (samples measuring less than 22cm were photographed before being completely sampled). The samples were analysed at the SGS Lakefield laboratory, located in Lakefield, Ontario following the 30g Fire Assay method with gravimetric finish. The SGS Lakefield analytical lab follows strict protocols and procedures including the systematic insertion of reference materials, re-assay checks and blanks. The mentioned grades are average grades. The mentioned lengths correspond to lengths measured longhole.
The Rocmec 1 Gold Property
The Rocmec 1 gold property is located in the Dasserat Township, some 36 km west of Rouyn-Noranda (Quebec) in the Abitibi region of Quebec, in close proximity to two World-Class Mining Camps, the Rouyn-Noranda Copper Gold Camp to the SE in Quebec, and the Kirkland Lake / Larder Lake Gold Camp to the SW in Ontario.
The gold mineralization at the Rocmec 1 property is linked to E-NE, centimetric and metric wide quartz veins within a kilometric long by 600 m wide gabbro to granodiorite intrusive host. There are at least six major vein systems identified on the property; however, recent underground work by the Company has confirmed that several veins are likely part of the same system, simply offset by north trending faults. The veins are part of diverging / converging or an anastomosing fracture system than includes shearing, alteration (silica, chlorite, sericite, epidote and carbonate) and 2 to 10% disseminated and vein-type pyrite that can attain overall widths in excess of 30 m.
A technical report (dated March 19, 2007), compliant with National Instrument (NI) 43-101 standards of disclosure, was prepared by Systemes Geostat International Inc. of Blainville (Quebec) identified mineral resources of 521,800 tonnes @ 5.15 g/t gold (86,550 ounces of gold) in the Measured and Indicated Resources category. There is an additional 2,250,000 tonnes @ 6.32 g/t gold (456,900 ounces of gold) in the Inferred Resources category.
