SPoT Coffee (Canada) Ltd.: SPoT Coffee Announnces Expansion and Renovation of Its Renowned Elmwood SPoT Cafe

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 4, 2010) - SPOT COFFEE (CANADA) LTD. (TSX VENTURE:SPP) ("SPoT" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has recently completed the expansion and full renovation of one of the Company's highest revenue generating cafes located in the heart of the Elmwood Village Community ("Elmwood SPoT") in Western New York State. The expansion has doubled the area of the cafe to 4050 sq. ft. and has increased available seating capacity to accommodate 185 patrons including the outdoor heated patio space. The Elmwood Village is a strong commercial and residential hub that boasts an economically healthy, vibrant and sustainable community in Buffalo, New York.

The completion of the Elmwood SPoT renovation and expansion prior to the end of 2009 represents another accomplishment in the Company's controlled growth which has been carefully laid out by SPoT management in the Company's long-term business and financial plan in 2009. Construction of the sixth SPoT Coffee location has now begun in Del Ray Beach, Florida and this cafe is scheduled to commence its operations in May 2010. SPoT is well positioned to have ten cafes in full operation or under development by the end of 2010.

Elmwood SPoT, which first opened in 1999, alone generated approximately $1.4 million in annual gross revenue for the Company last year. SPoT Coffee management conservatively estimates that the expansion and renovation will increase the annual gross sales at Elmwood SPoT by 35%.

The constant popularity of Elmwood SPoT had previously exerted tremendous pressure on its limited seating and menu. Now the cafe expansion provides increased seating capacity and the new enlarged kitchen accommodates an enhanced menu that, in keeping with other SPoT cafes, includes SPoT's gourmet pizza, signature sandwiches and Belgian Waffles.

Consistent with SPoT's unique approach to building and operating community-oriented cafes, Elmwood SPoT will continue to provide a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for its community to enjoy. The entire back wall of the expansion now features a new mural highlighting many of the local features of the Elmwood Village designed and painted by a local known artist. With the assistance of local architect and professor, Bradley Wales, many key design elements of historical value have been preserved and add to the warm features of Elmwood SPoT, including the addition of a large platform that will form a stage for live music and entertainment that SPoT expects to regularly feature there.
