Total home listing soared to over 1 million last week for the first time since 2019.
The U.S. housing market is experiencing a significant slowdown, with home sales dropping to their lowest level in over a decade, as reported by Newsweek. High mortgage rates, currently around 7 percent, are deterring potential buyers, causing a 23 percent decrease in home sales from the previous year. Additionally, the number of available home listings has increased by 12 percent, the highest since 2019, as sellers are struggling to find buyers willing to pay the elevated prices. This situation has led to a market where homes are taking longer to sell, and price reductions are becoming more common, indicating a shift towards a buyer's market.
