DECATUR, Ill.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) today announced the appointments of Valmor Schaffer to president, ADM South America, and John Grossmann to vice president, South American Oilseeds.

As president, ADM South America, Schaffer will coordinate growth activity across all ADM business lines in the region and manage ADMa™s oilseed business in Brazil. He brings a broad range of agribusiness expertise, a deep knowledge of ADM operations and an outstanding track record to his new role.
He joined ADMa™s Brazilian grain origination operations in 1999 and served as president, ADM Paraguay, and, subsequently, as general manager of the ADM-SAO joint venture in Bolivia, which included oversight of operations in Peru and Colombia. Schaffer has studied economics at Brazila™s Faculdades Integradas do Tringulo and earlier studied foreign trade at Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Unisinos) in Brazil.
In his new role, Grossmann will lead ADMa™s South American oilseeds business, excluding operations in Brazil, and will report to Schaffer. He joined ADM in 1998 and has held various positions in ADMa™s North and South American Oilseeds processing operations. He most recently served as president, ADM Paraguay. Grossmann is an agronomist who holds a mastera™s degree in business administration from the Brazilian university Fundao Getulio Vargas.
