CALGARY, Aug. 23, 2011 /CNW/ - Blacksteel Energy Inc. ("Blacksteel" or the "Company") (TSXV - "BEY") announces the resignation of Steve Strawson and Walter Wakula as directors of the Company.
Steve Strawson was a founding director of the Company first appointed to the Board in September 2007 and has served continuously on the Board to this time.
Walter Wakula was the founding Chairman of the Board of the Company ("Chair") first appointed to the Board and elected Chair in September 2007. He also served as Blacksteel's CEO from December 2007 to May 2008, Chief Financial Officer from December 2007 to August 2008. Mr. Wakula has served continuously as Chair of the Company to this time.
In announcing these resignations from the Board, Mr. Chris Scase, a director of the Company stated: "I thank Steve and Walter wholeheartedly for their dedicated service as directors of the Company and wish them well in their future endeavours."
Messrs. Chris Scase and Jacques Soroka are the current directors of the Company.
Blacksteel is a junior oil and gas company. Its principal business activity is the exploration, exploitation, development and production of petroleum and natural gas resources in Alberta. The Company has a 100% working interest in 22 sections of Crown oil sands leases in the Peace River area of northern Alberta, a working interest in a natural gas producing property in the Grassland area of Alberta, has a working interest in a producing oil well in the Devon area of central Alberta and has a 100% working interest in a 4 section P&NG lease in the Del Bonita Area of Southern Alberta.
