In the first two months of this year alone, more than 17,000 manufactured homes were shipped across the country.
The mobile home industry is experiencing a significant boom due to the ongoing housing affordability crisis, with sales of manufactured homes increasing by 20% in the first half of 2023 compared to the previous year. This surge is driven by the need for affordable housing options as traditional home prices and rents continue to rise. Mobile homes, which are built in factories and then transported to their sites, offer a more cost-effective alternative, with the average price of a new manufactured home being around $120,000, significantly lower than the median price of a new single-family home at approximately $416,000. The industry's growth is also supported by government initiatives aimed at increasing affordable housing options, and manufacturers are responding by expanding production and introducing new, more energy-efficient models to meet the rising demand.
