Hollywood Comes Calling at UniFirst ...Once Again

[ ]

WILMINGTON, Mass., Nov. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire – It's deja vu all over again. For the second time, Hollywood producers from "Extreme Makeover—Home Edition" have asked [ UniFirst ] to play a supporting role in their highly rated ABC-TV program.

The reality show recently completed filming an episode in Joplin, Missouri (scheduled to air in January 2012), where it built seven homes for seven families in seven days…appropriately called "Seven in Seven Days."  These families were among those left homeless by a tornado in May. With more than 100 fatalities, the tornado proved to be one of the deadliest in recorded U.S. history.

Based on a request from the ABC-TV producers, UniFirst donated "welcome" mats for each of the seven homes that were place just inside the front doors, making the floor mats one of the first objects the homeowners would see upon entering. UniFirst also donated 1,000 customized T-shirts with the program's logos and messaging.

"The mats were just our way of saying 'good luck' to the new homeowners," said UniFirst Manager Brent Mason.  "And are intended to help symbolize a clean and healthy future for these families.  Meanwhile, we hope the personalized shirts, that include the show logos, act as a reminder to all who wear them to help neighbors in need whenever possible."

The Missouri episode of "Extreme Makeover—Home Edition," will mark the second time UniFirst has worked with the show's producers.  Two years ago, UniFirst made similar donations while the show was building a home near UniFirst's national distribution center in Owensboro, Kentucky.

And, of course, the UniFirst-Hollywood connection doesn't stop there as viewers of the CBS-TV program "Undercover Boss" are well aware. In January of this year, UniFirst and company President/CEO Ron Croatti played starring roles in their own featured episode of the prime time series, as well as in a subsequent CBS rerun. In November, the UniFirst-Undercover Boss episode was also aired by The Learning Channel (TLC) cable network, and it's scheduled to be aired on OWN, the Oprah Winfrey cable network, in 2012.

UniFirst (NYSE: [ UNF ]), a North American leader in the supply and servicing of uniforms, workwear, and protective clothing, outfits more than 1.5 million workers each business day. UniFirst also offers Facility Service programs including floor mats, mops, and restroom products. For more information, contact UniFirst at 800-455-7654 or visit [ www.unifirst.com ].
