Six-year-old credited with limiting fire damage to Danville home
Mason McGuire, who also lived at the home in the 1600 block of North Franklin Street, noticed smoke in the residence and alerted his grandmother, Priscilla Bradberry.
A six-year-old boy named Karter, from Danville, Illinois, was credited with preventing further damage to his family's home after a fire started in the kitchen. While his mother was asleep, Karter noticed the fire, quickly woke her up, and they both escaped the house safely. The fire, which began when a pot of grease was left unattended on the stove, was contained to the kitchen thanks to Karter's quick thinking. The Danville Fire Department responded to the scene, and although the kitchen sustained significant damage, the rest of the house was largely spared due to Karter's actions. The incident occurred on a Saturday, and no injuries were reported.
