BOERNE, TX--(Marketwire - April 7, 2009) - The Tootie Pie Company, Inc. (OTCBB: [ TOOT ]), a premium baker and seller of high-quality, handmade pies, announced today that it sold over 9,300 pies for the three months ended March 2009, making this the best January through March sales period in the Company's history.

Don Merrill, Tootie Pie Company's President & CEO, commented, "This is typically one of the slowest periods in the food industry. The holidays are over and Americans go on diets. Certainly, the economy is a factor as well. As we opened up 2009, like most other companies, we did not know what to expect. When compared to unit sales for the same period in 2008, January was down about 20%, February was up about 20% and March was up about 40%. Obviously, we are pleased and optimistic that this up trend will continue; as this is a direct result of our organic sales efforts."

Tootie Pie Company bakes and sells high-quality, handmade pies through three basic sales channels: retail, corporate and wholesale. The retail segment serves individual consumers through in-store sales, by telephone, and on the Company's website. The corporate segment serves businesses that purchase pies as a way to promote their company through client appreciation programs. The wholesale segment is made up of regional and national broad-line foodservice distributors who purchase pies and then resell them to their customers.
