Paul Charron to Become Chairman of Campbell?s Board of Directors, Succeeding Harvey Golub

CAMDEN, N.J.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB) announced today that its Board of Directors has elected Paul Charron to succeed Harvey Golub as Chairman of the Board, effective in August 2009, the beginning of the company's next fiscal year.

Charron, 66, has been a director of Campbell since 2003. He was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Liz Claiborne Inc. from 1996 until his retirement in 2006, and held positions at Procter and Gamble and General Foods earlier in his career. Charron is currently a senior advisor at Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm, and a managing partner of Fidus Investment Partners.

Golub, 69, joined the Campbell Board in 1996, and has served as Chairman since 2004. From 1993 to 2001, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Express Company. Since 2006, he has been executive chairman of Ripplewood Holdings LLC, a private equity firm.

Commenting on Charron's election, Golub said, "Paul Charron is an outstanding business leader who has made valuable contributions to our Board during the past six years.
