Now, decades later, those savings are often depleted, and they are reliant on Social Security and limited assistance programs.

While numerous organizations provide valuable support, including meal delivery, home healthcare, and emotional counseling, access to affordable and appropriate housing remains a significant barrier. Many survivors express a preference for remaining in the community, close to synagogues and cultural centers, but few affordable options exist. Mamdani's intervention, offering direct assistance in finding housing for Weiser, has been praised as a vital step.
