West Palm Beach Completes Roseland Gardens, Mixed-Income Community
Palm Beach PostLocale: UNITED STATES

WEST PALM BEACH, FL - January 27th, 2026 - A significant shift in West Palm Beach's housing landscape has concluded with the completion of Roseland Gardens, a mixed-income community rising from the site of the former Palm Glades public housing complex for seniors. This project represents more than just new construction; it symbolizes a broader commitment to revitalization and equitable housing solutions in the city's northwest neighborhood, an area historically grappling with poverty and limited opportunities.
For decades, Palm Glades served as a vital resource for low-income seniors, providing affordable housing in a geographically central location. However, the complex, originally built in the 1970s, had reached the end of its operational life, plagued by aging infrastructure and increasingly inadequate facilities. Recognizing this, city officials initiated a strategic plan to replace it with a more sustainable and diverse housing option, culminating in the Roseland Gardens development.
Roseland Properties, a private developer, has taken the lead on this ambitious project, which has been in the planning stages and secured city approvals and funding several years prior. The development will ultimately encompass 228 units, thoughtfully designed to cater to a broad demographic. A dedicated 156 units will be reserved for seniors, ensuring continued access to affordable housing options for this vulnerable population. The remaining units will be offered at market rates, fostering a mixed-income environment intended to promote economic diversity and a sense of community.
"This is a transformative project for our city and particularly for the northwest neighborhood," stated Mayor Keith James, highlighting the project's importance. "It addresses aging infrastructure and housing needs, and it will positively impact the quality of life for our residents."
The demolition of Palm Glades occurred over a year, a process that was carefully managed to minimize disruption and ensure the well-being of the former residents. All individuals who previously resided at Palm Glades were proactively relocated to alternative housing options, a crucial aspect of the project's responsible execution. While the demolition marked the end of an era for many long-time residents, it also signals a new beginning for the entire northwest neighborhood.
Beyond providing much-needed housing, Roseland Gardens is designed to enhance the overall quality of life for residents. The development features a state-of-the-art community center, a fully-equipped fitness center promoting wellness, and a vibrant community garden - spaces designed to foster social interaction, recreation, and a sense of belonging. These amenities are seen as integral to creating a thriving and connected community.
Construction on Roseland Gardens officially commenced in 2024 and is on track for completion in late 2026. The project's progress has been closely monitored, and city officials are optimistic about its potential to serve as a model for future public-private partnerships addressing West Palm Beach's ongoing housing challenges. This approach--collaborating with private developers while maintaining a commitment to affordability and community benefit--is seen as a key strategy for tackling the complexities of modern urban development.
The revitalization efforts surrounding Roseland Gardens extend beyond housing. The development is strategically positioned within a larger initiative aimed at attracting jobs and resources to the northwest neighborhood, offering a pathway towards economic empowerment and improved opportunities for local residents. The project is envisioned as a catalyst for broader neighborhood improvements, fostering a sense of hope and progress for the community as a whole.
