VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 16, 2010) - Abington Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:ABL)(PINK SHEETS:ABIZF) is pleased to announce the particulars of the initial phase of the work program on our Treasure King gold property near Prescott, Arizona. The Company has contracted a well-respected local professional geologist with considerable knowledge of the area to head up this project.

The Treasure King has had extensive exploration done in the past by such companies as Homestake, REDCO and Royal Gold, mostly in the north shaft zone. It was permitted for an open-pit heap leach operation in the late 1980's, but low gold prices at the time halted production plans.

Abington's initial phase includes a layered computerized map compilation of data to be generated from all sources including government maps, unpublished company maps, and our geologist's personal files. This will include geology, geochemistry (soil geochemical lines, lithogeochemistry, and historical drill data), geophysics and historic drill hole locations.

Lithogeochemical sampling of the claim block including the altered rhyolite protoliths, chert units, dump and select samples will be carried out. Additionally, our sampling of lines over existing (Royal Gold) soil lines on mineralized horizons will be analyzed with three different techniques. They are the standard multi-element package, MMI multi-element package and the Enzyme Leach multi-element package. These techniques are necessary to determine the usefulness of each technique and to determine the most cost-effective exploration plan to use in future detailed studies to determine potential drill targets.

Abington is attempting to confirm and corroborate the existence of the mineralization and geochemical anomalies generated by REDCO, Royal Gold, et al, that led to the permitting for an open-pit heap leach operation.
