  • Benton County: Secures $3.7 million to build a 37-unit affordable housing project, addressing the growing needs of this southeastern Washington community.
  • Yakima County: Also awarded $3.7 million for a similar 37-unit project, targeting the Yakima Valley's housing challenges.
  • Clark County: Obtains $4.2 million to support a 51-unit affordable housing project in the Vancouver-Portland metropolitan area.
  • King County: The largest single allocation, $16.6 million, is earmarked for a variety of affordable housing initiatives within King County, encompassing projects with varying scales and target populations.
  • Pierce County: Receives $12.3 million, also designated for a range of projects, signaling a commitment to addressing housing insecurity throughout Pierce County.

The Housing Trust Fund: A Decade-Plus of Investment

The funds originate from the Housing Trust Fund, a vital state resource established in 2005. Since its inception, the fund has demonstrably committed over $1 billion to affordable housing initiatives across Washington. This track record highlights the state's long-term commitment to providing housing opportunities for its residents. The Housing Trust Fund typically receives revenue from a variety of sources, including state general fund appropriations and dedicated taxes.
