WABCO Introduces Innovative Lane Departure Warning Technology for Trucks and Buses; New OnLane System Extends Company's Safety Portfolio

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM and HANOVER, GERMANY--(Marketwire - Sept. 18, 2012) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE:WBC), ([ www.wabco-auto.com ]) a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today introduced OnLane™ technology, a lane departure warning system (LDWS) for trucks and buses, at IAA Commercial Vehicles 2012 in Hanover, Germany. OnLane marks WABCO's next step in advanced driver assistance systems.

OnLane increases vehicle safety by providing the driver with visual and acoustic warnings or an optional seat-vibration warning, in case of unintentional lane departure, which is one of the most common causes of accidents involving commercial vehicles.

OnLane integrates a camera and an electronic control unit into a single, compact box through engineering excellence. OnLane can be mounted at the top or bottom of the vehicle's windshield, which further differentiates WABCO's safety innovation. OnLane is fully compliant with the European Union's regulation that requires LDWS on new trucks and buses as of November 2013.

"OnLane marks another major step in vehicle safety and driver effectiveness, further strengthening WABCO's global technology leadership," said Jean-Christophe Figueroa, WABCO Vice President, Vehicle Control Systems. "OnLane extends our portfolio of advanced driver assistance systems, and represents WABCO's first in a series of advanced camera functions for LDWS, which allows for future integration of additional features such as driver drowsiness warning, traffic sign recognition and headlight control."

OnLane technology is ready for object detection and it is WABCO's first safety system using a camera. OnLane's pioneering technology supports the future introduction of WABCO's OnGuardMAX™, an advanced emergency braking system (AEBS) that reacts to moving, decelerating and stationary vehicles ahead, and can autonomously bring the vehicle to a complete stop. OnLane fuses with the radar sensor in OnGuard™ technology.

WABCO will also supply an aftermarket kit to retrofit trucks and buses with OnLane, enabling fleets to further improve vehicle safety and driver effectiveness.
