Goodyear will receive the award at a banquet in Cleveland on May 17 and will be featured in the May/June issue of Inside Business.

Since 2008, Goodyear has not sent any manufacturing waste from its 53 factories to landfills anywhere in the world. The initiative was started in 2006 to reduce Goodyear's environmental impact by requiring all plants to reduce, reuse and recycle manufacturing waste.

"Goodyear believes our Zero Waste to Landfill initiative represents a responsible next step in environmental stewardship, both through the effective management of byproducts and also the elimination of materials going into landfills," said Dave Chapman, Goodyear's Director of Environmental, Health and Safety Sustainability. "As part of our corporate mission, we strive to take care of our environment and communities, and achieving Zero Waste to Landfill is a win for both.

In addition to the 2012 Manny Award for Zero Waste to Landfill, Goodyear received a 2011 Manny Award in the "Employee Safety" category for its No One Gets Hurt internal safety strategy.

For the past 15 years, the Manny Awards have recognized Northeast Ohio manufacturers' greatest accomplishments, innovation and best practices. Since 1998, the Manny Awards program has recognized more than 100 manufacturers that have excelled in such areas as product development, green initiatives and workplace environment.
