Cobra Electronics Announces Cobra Tag Universal, Now With Support for iPhone® and iPad®

Advanced Yet Affordable Loss Prevention System for Protecting Personal Valuables Now Includes Universal Hardware Compatibility With iOS, Android and Blackberry Devices

NEW ORLEANS, LA--(Marketwire - May 8, 2012) - -- INTERNATIONAL CTIA WIRELESS 2012 (Booth 1156) -- Cobra Electronics Corporation (NASDAQ: [ COBR ]), a leading designer and marketer of award-winning mobile and consumer electronics, today announced the release of Cobra Tag™ Universal, the latest version of the award-winning personal loss prevention system. The new model is universally compatible with iOS, Android™ and Blackberry® devices, allowing users to protect their phones, purses, laptop bags, and a host of other personal valuables across these three major smartphone operating systems. Cobra will unveil and demonstrate the new Cobra Tag Universal this week in Booth 1156 at the International CTIA WIRELESS 2012 conference, which runs May 8-10 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA.

According to Asurion.com, the largest phone insurance provider in the U.S., 56 percent of cell phones are lost or misplaced every year and over 25,000 laptops are left behind in airports every day. The new Cobra Tag Universal, powered by Phone Halo Technology, is a brilliant alarm and loss prevention system that solves this problem, protecting expensive smartphones, briefcases, luggage and virtually any other personal valuable. Users download the Cobra Tag app to their smartphone and attach the Cobra Tag device to any item they wish to protect.

Cobra Tag uses Bluetooth® wireless technology to create a two-way separation alarm between the owner's smartphone and their valuables. The Cobra Tag system monitors the distance between the phone and tagged item and produces an audible warning on both devices if they become separated. In addition to receiving an audible alert, the Cobra Tag app can send users an email, tweet or post that their phone and essential have been separated and a map to the item's last known location.

The Cobra Tag loss prevention system has been recognized by the CEA with a prestigious International CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Award, and was selected as a finalist in the prestigious 2011 CTIA 'Hot for the Holidays' Award program.

Cobra Tag Universal will be available in May 2012 at a retail price of $59.95. For more information or to locate a retailer, please visit [ www.cobratag.com ].
