WABCO Exhibits Technology Leadership in Air Disc Brakes for Commercial Trailers; Presents New Generation of Products for North America

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM and LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY--(Marketwire - March 22, 2012) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE:WBC), ([ www.wabco-auto.com ]) a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, is showcasing its single-piston air disc braking technology for commercial trailers at the 2012 Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Kentucky, through March 24. WABCO's PAN trailer brakes are recognized as one of the global industry's most successful air disc brakes.

Through pioneering engineering, WABCO's PAN trailer brakes combine an innovative compact design with single-piston technology and taper wear compensation. Available in 16- to 25-inch rim sizes, PAN air disc brakes perform superbly in trailer axle applications up to 23,500 lbs (10.6 metric tons).

In addition to providing high performance braking capabilities, WABCO's PAN range is one of the lightest trailer air disc brakes in the industry. For example, the 22.5 inch PAN22 weighs only 79 pounds (36 kilograms) including brake pads. As a result, trailers can increase payload or improve fuel economy while also reducing maintenance and service costs by using thicker brake pads.

WABCO currently supplies PAN products to several leading trailer axle manufacturers in North America. The company also expects to significantly increase adoption by fleet owners and operators as PAN products are strongly differentiated through their superb reliability and low weight.

"Our new PAN products are specially engineered for North America and represent yet another mark of WABCO's technology leadership as we expand our breakthrough single-piston air disc brakes into specific trailer applications," said Nikhil Varty, Vice President, Americas. "We expect a growing number of major players in the trailer market to make long term commitments in favor of early adoption of WABCO's new generation of high performance, low weight PAN trailer brakes."

WABCO Breakthroughs

As the technology leader in the global commercial vehicle industry, WABCO's breakthroughs include, among other vehicle safety and efficiency technologies, the first autonomous emergency braking system (AEBS), the first collision mitigation system (CMS) with active braking, and the first electronic stability control (ESC) system. WABCO also pioneered the industry's first electronic braking system (EBS), the first electronically controlled air suspension (ECAS), the first automated manual transmission (AMT) system, the first anti-lock braking system (ABS), and the first high performance single-piston air disc brakes.

Founded in the United States in 1869 as Westinghouse Air Brake Company, WABCO is a U.S. public company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
