Shiloh Industries Launches the First AcroStik™ Acoustic Panel Laminate (APL™)

VALLEY CITY, OH--(Marketwire - Jan 9, 2012) - Shiloh Industries (NASDAQ: [ SHLO ]) announces the introduction of its first AcroStik™ Acoustic Panel Laminate (APL™). The APL™ process combines Shiloh's expertise in formability and NVH with its proprietary adhesive technology to provide a highly effective cold-formed viscoelastic damping material. The APL™ reduces noise and vibration while also reducing the cost, weight and complexity of the modular assembly construction. The product is being launched with a major OEM on the dash panel of a new luxury vehicle.

Shiloh AcroStik™ Acoustic Coil Laminate (ACL™) has been produced successfully for over two years for laminated steel oil pans, transmission and engine covers for powertrain applications with several OEMs. The APL™ product complements this as a cost-effective solution for body panel applications, with improved performance and lower cost. Patents are issued and pending.

Shiloh's proprietary process and adhesive technologies have been developed in-house. The viscoelastic chemistry can be tuned to provide damping for vehicle body and powertrain NVH applications, plus other appliance and industrial applications. Shiloh's extensive knowledge of stamping and metal formability aids in the Company's APL™ development objectives to achieve efficient cold-forming and meet noise and vibration damping requirements.

Further developments are in process with several other OEMs.

Headquartered in Valley City, Ohio, Shiloh Industries is a leading manufacturer of precision blanks, laser welded blanks, AcroStik™ laminates, complex stampings and modular assemblies for the automotive and heavy truck industries.
