Save the Children Elects Anne M. Mulcahy as Chair of the Board

WESTPORT, CT--(Marketwire - November 12, 2009) - Save the Children today announced that Anne M. Mulcahy, Chairman of Xerox Corporation (NYSE: [ XRX ]), has been elected Chair of the Board of Trustees, effective March 2, 2010. Mulcahy succeeds Robert A. Daly, former head of Warner Brothers, who is stepping down after serving as the global humanitarian organization's Chair for the last five years.

Mulcahy will be the latest private sector executive to serve as Board Chair at Save the Children. Prior to Daly's election in 2005, Thomas S. Murphy, retired Chairman and CEO of Capital Cities/ABC, served as Chair from 1997 - 2005.

Mulcahy served as Chairman and CEO of Xerox from August 2001 through June 2009. She retired from the CEO position effective July 1, though she remains Chairman of the Board. Mulcahy is a 33-year veteran of Xerox who began her career as a field sales representative and assumed increasingly important sales and senior management positions over the past three decades.

"I researched a number of worthy organizations but ultimately chose to work with Save the Children because of its long history, fiscal accountability and capacity to effect change for children on a global scale," said Mulcahy.

Daly informed the Board in late 2008 that he intended to step down from the Chairman role this year. In his five years as the Save the Children Board Chair, he has overseen annual program growth averaging 13.5 percent, with 48 million children served in 2008, and operating revenue growth per year of 11 percent. He also spearheaded the creation of Save the Children's first domestic emergency response unit in the United States, which has proven successful in responding to disasters such as Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav and Ike.

Daly recently accepted the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors for the American Film Institute, effective March 2010.
