HARTSVILLE, S.C.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Next week at World of Concrete, Sonoco (NYSE: SON) will illustrate construction job site savings with a comparison display of concrete light pole base columns, made using both Sonotube® Finish Free® column forms and standard spiral column forms.
Sonotube Finish Free column forms eliminate the need for manual finishing, producing exceptionally smooth columns. Sonoco applies a patented Duraglas® coating to the inside of its Finish Free forms, eliminating spiral marks, seams and imperfections that would otherwise be left on the finished surface of the concrete. The result is a significant cost savings through the elimination of labor and materials required to finish columns.
"Most light pole installations involve building a number of concrete bases," said Pete Gioldasis, Sonoco's building products segment manager, Industrial Products – North America. "The time and cost of finishing each base by hand can add up quickly. Using Sonotube Finish Free forms is the most efficient and cost-effective way to build attractive concrete light pole bases, or any other concrete column."
Gioldasis said Sonotube Finish Free forms reduce materials costs associated with finishing, including release agents, generators or other power supply types, circular saws, grinding equipment and disks, grout/patch materials and trowels.
Sonotube Finish Free concrete forms are also easy to remove after concrete sets. The StripCordTM stripping filament eliminates the time-consuming process of cutting the form away. Sonotube Finish Free concrete forms are manufactured with the StripCord filament mounted inside the tube. When pulled with a hammer, pry bar or other tool handle, the StripCord strap cuts right through the form wall without harming the surface of the column.
Sonoco manufactures and distributes Sonotube brand concrete forms throughout North America, minimizing lead times.
