Indianapolis, Indiana - March 18th, 2026 - In a heart-stopping rescue captured on video, Indianapolis firefighters and police officers saved a golden retriever named Apollo from a rapidly escalating house fire earlier today. The dramatic incident unfolded in a residential neighborhood and saw first responders enter a burning structure just moments before it collapsed, narrowly escaping with the animal's life.

The Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) released footage of the rescue on their official social media channels, quickly garnering widespread attention and praise for the bravery and quick thinking of the officers and firefighters involved. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the fire was quickly spreading and that a pet - later confirmed to be Apollo, a golden retriever - was potentially trapped inside. "The house was already heavily involved when we arrived," explained Fire Captain Emily Carter at a press conference held this afternoon. No injuries were reported to the first responders or the Miller family, although Apollo was evaluated by paramedics at the scene and is expected to make a full recovery. He was treated for minor smoke inhalation and is currently resting comfortably with his owners.
