Molson Coorsa™ water stewardship extends beyond its Water Stewardship Month. In March 2010, Molson Coors announced its lead sponsorship of CDP Water Disclosure. CDP, an independent not-for-profit organization, has emerged as the global scorekeeper on carbon emissions gathering primary corporate climate change information from thousands of businesses around the world so that it can be incorporated into business and policy decision making. With the launch of CDP Water Disclosure, the organization is using the same established framework to tackle the increasingly vital issue of water scarcity.
In addition to sponsoring CDP Water Disclosure, Molson Coors joined more than 300 companies reporting on their water use and other water-related issues. This effort will provide a common framework for companies to assess and report on water-related risk and emphasizes the critical role corporations play in disclosing and measuring water management practices. The results of this survey will be released by CDP Water Disclosure in November.
The company has also collaborated with leading water stakeholder, Circle of Blue, an international network of journalists, scientists and communications design experts, to launch an independent survey conducted by GlobeScan that provided a benchmark in awareness of water scarcity. The global survey results were announced at World Water Week 2009 in Stockholm and are presented in the [ Human Perspectives on the Global Water Crisis ] report.
