CLARINDA, IA--(Marketwire - April 7, 2009) - Naturally Iowa, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: [ NLIA ]), a leading manufacturer and distributor of value-added bottled spring water and dairy products, announced that the company and DAK Renewable Energy, Inc. of Brandon, South Dakota, a leading force in the renewable energy field, have signed a letter of intent with DAK, through its new entity Naturally Dakota LLC, to make a substantial financial investment in Naturally Iowa, Inc. As part of the arrangement, DAK founder and CEO David Kolsrud is expected to join Naturally Iowa's board of directors. Additionally, DAK will provide Naturally Iowa with enhanced management and resources in the areas of finance, accounting, customer service and administration.

"If these plans are successful, this investment marks an exciting new chapter in Naturally Iowa's evolution and development," said Bill Horner, agricultural entrepreneur, native Iowa farmer and founder of Naturally Iowa. "DAK has more than two decades of experience in the renewable resource industry and has garnered both critical acclaim and financial success. The excellence of the DAK team may also allow us to increase our 'bench strength' of leaders and managers to help drive Naturally Iowa forward."

Mr. Horner continued, "I'm particularly pleased that David Kolsrud plans to bring his wisdom and experience to our board of directors. David is a highly sought and nationally recognized leader in the field of renewable resources due to his deep knowledge of the industry. His financial success and business acumen may also assist with our ambitious plans to grow our business."

DAK founder Kolsrud noted that the mission of Naturally Iowa aligns with his company's commitment to renewable resources. "I founded DAK more than a decade ago to build the promise of sustainability and to capitalize on the dynamic growth of the renewable resources market," said Kolsrud. "I am very pleased that Naturally Iowa has, from its beginning, shown an unswerving dedication to sustainability and to using renewable resources for its bottles. This dedication is a perfect match to our mission at DAK to find sustainable and innovative new businesses in which to participate. Additionally, we see tremendous sales and growth potential for Naturally Iowa's Green Bottle™ Spring Water, and we are eager to gain a foothold in the burgeoning market for sustainable beverages."

Naturally Iowa's Horner noted that the addition of the DAK resources continues a process that began late in 2008 when the Fairhaven Strategy Group, a branding and business planning consultancy, was engaged to assist Naturally Iowa with its sales and brand development. "With DAK, our financial and managerial resource base has been strengthened even further, setting the stage for many new business developments that we hope to announce in the near future," said Horner.

Previously, it was announced that the water used in Naturally Iowa's Green Bottle™ Spring Water won the Gold Medal as "Best Bottled Water in the World" at the largest and longest-running water tasting competition. Green Bottle™ Spring Water also gained distribution in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Washington, DC headquarters, and the company was selected as a "BioPreferred" supplier to the U.S. Government. Additionally, Green Bottle™ Spring Water was chosen as the exclusive bottled water for the food service venues at the U.S. House of Representatives as part of its "Green the Capitol" Initiative.
