New Video Surfaces in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance
Locale: UNITED STATES

Oklahoma City, OK - March 3rd, 2026 - A chilling new piece of evidence has emerged in the baffling disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, reigniting public and police focus on the case nearly three years after she vanished. A video, recently obtained by KFOR, depicts a masked individual approaching Guthrie's Oklahoma City home on the night of her disappearance in August 2023. The footage, while grainy, has prompted renewed calls for information and intensified scrutiny of the investigation.
Guthrie, a well-respected and active member of the Oklahoma City School Board, disappeared without a trace, leaving behind a bewildered family and a community demanding answers. At the time of her disappearance, local and national media outlets covered the story extensively, initially focusing on potential connections to Guthrie's role on the school board. She had been a vocal advocate for increased funding for public education and was involved in contentious debates regarding curriculum changes and school safety measures. Some early speculation, fueled by online forums and unsubstantiated rumors, suggested her disappearance might be linked to these potentially divisive issues. However, police quickly cautioned against jumping to conclusions and emphasized that all avenues of investigation were being pursued.
The newly released video changes the complexion of the case. The individual, completely masked and wearing dark clothing, is seen walking towards Guthrie's front door at approximately 11:47 PM on August 14th, 2023 - the night Guthrie was last seen. While the video quality is poor and doesn't capture clear facial features, investigators believe the individual's gait and build may offer clues to their identity. Police have released still images from the video to the public, urging anyone with information to come forward.
"This video is a significant development," stated Oklahoma City Police Captain Evelyn Reed during a press conference this morning. "While we had several leads and explored various theories in the initial months of the investigation, this provides a concrete visual of a person of interest. We are working diligently to enhance the video quality and analyze any potential identifying characteristics. We are also cross-referencing this with existing surveillance footage from the neighborhood."
Captain Reed stressed the importance of public assistance. "Someone, somewhere, may recognize the way this person walks, their clothing, or any other unique feature. Even seemingly insignificant details could be crucial in helping us identify them."
The Guthrie family, while understandably distressed by the resurfacing of the video, has expressed gratitude for the ongoing investigation. "It's been an incredibly difficult time for our family," said a family spokesperson in a prepared statement. "We are hopeful that this new evidence will lead to answers and bring closure. We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact the police."
The investigation has remained active over the past two and a half years, with detectives conducting numerous interviews, executing search warrants, and pursuing various leads. Initial searches of Guthrie's home and surrounding areas yielded no immediate clues. Digital forensics experts have been analyzing her computer, phone records, and social media activity, but so far, no definitive links have been established. The police have previously explored the possibility of a targeted attack, a random act of violence, and even the possibility that Guthrie may have left voluntarily, though they have stated there is no evidence to support the latter theory.
The emergence of this video raises crucial questions: Was the masked individual known to Guthrie? Was this a planned encounter, or a spontaneous act? And, most importantly, what happened to Nancy Guthrie after this individual approached her door? The Oklahoma City Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the video or Guthrie's disappearance to contact them immediately at (405) 297-1000 or submit an anonymous tip through the city's Crime Stoppers hotline.
