Warwickshire, England - February 10th, 2026 - Baddesley Clinton, the enchanting medieval manor house nestled in the heart of Warwickshire, is poised to once again welcome visitors into its revitalized gardens. The National Trust property is gearing up for a vibrant reopening event on February 28th, 2026, with a unique twist - a full-fledged jazz-themed garden party designed to celebrate the arrival of spring and the return of life to the historic grounds.

Following the quieter winter months, during which essential conservation work has been undertaken, Baddesley Clinton's gardens are bursting with anticipation for the influx of visitors. However, this year's reopening is far from a simple unlocking of the gates. The National Trust team has conceived a day steeped in the glamour and energy of the Jazz Age, hoping to transport guests back to a time of flapper dresses, swinging melodies, and sophisticated revelry.

The decision to embrace a jazz theme wasn't arbitrary. "We wanted to do something special this year," explains Eleanor Vance, Head Gardener at Baddesley Clinton. "Baddesley Clinton has a deeply atmospheric quality. The stone walls, the intimate garden spaces... it evokes a sense of history and romance. We started brainstorming how to best reflect that, and the Jazz Age just felt right. It's a period that also appreciates beauty, craftsmanship, and a touch of escapism, values we hold dear here at the National Trust."

Visitors can anticipate more than just music. The event promises a full sensory experience. Local artisan food vendors will be offering a curated selection of dishes and refreshments inspired by the 1920s and 30s - think delicate finger sandwiches, miniature pastries, and specially crafted cocktails (and mocktails!) with names echoing jazz standards. A designated "Speakeasy" area within the gardens will offer a more intimate setting for enjoying the refreshments and the music.

The live jazz performance will be the centerpiece of the celebration. The "Cotton Club Cavaliers," a nationally renowned jazz ensemble specializing in the sounds of the Roaring Twenties, have been booked to provide the soundtrack for the day. They will be performing throughout the afternoon, offering a blend of classic tunes and contemporary interpretations.

Beyond the music and food, a variety of activities are planned to engage visitors of all ages. Family-friendly crafts, such as mask-making and feather boa creation stations, will allow children to embrace the spirit of the era. Guided garden tours will highlight the restoration work completed over the winter and delve into the history of the landscaping. Furthermore, historical interpreters, dressed in period attire, will be roaming the grounds, sharing stories of the Baddesley Clinton family and life during the medieval and Tudor periods.

Baddesley Clinton itself holds a compelling narrative. For over 300 years, it was the ancestral home of the Baddesley Clinton family, a lineage deeply rooted in the local community. The manor's architecture, a beautiful example of medieval design, has undergone several transformations over the centuries, reflecting the evolving tastes and fortunes of its inhabitants. Notably, the house played a significant role during the English Civil War, serving as a refuge for Royalist priests. Its hidden priest holes, expertly concealed within the walls, remain a fascinating feature for visitors to discover. The National Trust hopes this event will not only mark the reopening of the gardens but also inspire a renewed appreciation for the estate's history and natural beauty. "We want people to come and enjoy the gardens, of course," says Vance, "but we also want them to connect with the past, to understand the stories embedded within these walls and landscapes. The jazz theme is a playful way to unlock that connection and create a truly memorable experience."

Tickets for the Jazz Age Garden Party are available now through the National Trust website. Early booking is encouraged as spaces are limited. The event runs from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on February 28th, 2026. Proceeds from the event will go towards the ongoing conservation and maintenance of Baddesley Clinton and its gardens.
