WABCO Showcases Technology Leadership in Air Disc Brakes at Mid-America Trucking Show 2013; Breakthrough MAXXUS Technology Now on the Highway With Daimler Trucks North America

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM and LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY--(Marketwire - March 20, 2013) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE:WBC), ([ www.wabco-auto.com ]) a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today announced at the 2013 Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Kentucky, that series production trucks from Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), a leading original equipment manufacturer, are now on the road and fitted with WABCO's breakthrough MAXXUS™ heavy-duty single-piston air disc brake technology.

As previously announced, WABCO entered into a long-term supply agreement with DTNA in June 2012. As a result, MAXXUS brakes have been fitted to DTNA's range of vehicles since February 2013. MAXXUS is currently available on Freightliner Cascadia®, Coronado®, Columbia®, Business Class® M2 and SD models, as well as Western Star 4700, 4800, and 4900 platforms.

"Daimler Trucks North America is one of the leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles in North America and we are proud to supply them with WABCO's MAXXUS air disc brakes, a game-changing generation of high performance, low weight braking technology that significantly increases vehicle safety and efficiency," said Nikhil Varty, WABCO President, Americas. "MAXXUS, being specifically tailored for the local market, is yet another example of WABCO's differentiation through technology leadership, and a further demonstration of the company's commitment to serve North American customers."

WABCO's MAXXUS represents the lightest and highest performing single-piston air disc brake for North America's commercial vehicle industry. Superbly engineered and compactly designed, MAXXUS is more than 40 pounds lighter than a comparable air disc brake, when fitted to a 6x4 truck, thus boosting fuel efficiency and enabling increased transport payload.

MAXXUS air disc brakes have been specifically designed for the North American market and are well within U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for stopping distance, offering stable braking with virtually no fading and excellent downhill performance. In addition, an adaptor plate enables the MAXXUS air disc brake to be fitted to standard drum brake axles.

The company's latest innovation in air disc brakes also offers significant maintenance advantages over comparable drum brakes as service intervals are longer, resulting in less downtime, and brake pad changes take less than half the time of lining changes on drum brakes.

MAXXUS is based on WABCO's breakthrough MAXX™22 single-piston technology, pioneered in Europe. MAXX 22 brakes are the industry's lightest and highest performing single-piston air disc brakes and have already been adopted by major globally operating makers of commercial trucks and buses.
