Ocean Bio-Chem, Inc. Reports Two Key Products Aiding Victims of Hurricane Sandy; Sales Increases Reported

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwire - Nov 28, 2012) - Ocean Bio-Chem, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ OBCI ]), a leading manufacturer and distributor of appearance, performance, and maintenance products serving the marine, automotive, power sports, recreational vehicle and outdoor power equipment markets, said today that two of its most popular products, MDG Mold Odor Control Systems and Salt Off with PTEF®, can be extremely useful to defeat the devastation Hurricane Sandy caused in boats and cars and also in homes and offices.

"Flood conditions can cause moldy, foul odors and corrosion from exposure to salt," said Gregor M. Dornau, Ocean Bio-Chem Executive Vice President - Sales & Marketing. "Salt Off with PTEF® is formulated to remove salt deposits from any non-porous surface, leaving behind a protective PTEF polymer barrier to help repel salt. It is ideal for restoring any metal surfaces that have been exposed to salt water, including boats, cars, motorcycles, trucks as well as all other metal surfaces. The biodegradable, non-toxic formula will not harm the environment and is safe for use around people and pets. It will not harm painted surfaces nor fiberglass, plastic, rubber or glass surfaces."

"MDG Mold Odor Control is an U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-approved, patented process which utilizes an extremely effective, deep-penetrating chlorine dioxide vapor to permeate throughout an enclosed area in order to completely eliminate any existing foul smell or odor. It is available in a Slow Release version that ensures indoor air quality for up to 3 months, as well as a Fast Release system that works overnight and is very well suited to restore cars, homes, and other enclosed areas. This safe technology has been used for years in hospitals, food processing plants, hotels and other places to eliminate and prevent foul odors," Mr. Dornau said.

In addition, the Company has stepped up marketing its StarTron fuel treatment products for use in all diesel and gas powered equipment used in the cleanup efforts. The product, the only enzyme based fuel treatment on the market, helps effectively eliminate the water buildup in ethanol based fuels.

"We do see an increased demand for our products currently in the Northeast and we plan to continue our marketing efforts in this region," said Peter Dornau, CEO. "This is not a matter of taking advantage of a bad situation but rather is aiding people who are looking for solutions to help them forget the devastation of 'Sandy.' Ocean Bio-Chem made a corporate contribution to the American Red Cross, and numerous cash and product donations to local relief organizations, to further assist people harmed by this massive storm."
