POWAY, CA--(Marketwire - August 31, 2009) - Aldila, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ ALDA ]) -- Aldila Staff Member Heath Slocum used Aldila's new RIP™ shaft in his driver to stun the top players in the world and capture a one-shot victory at The Barclays. After barely making the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup, Slocum's victory catapulted him from 124th to third place in the point standings. This was just Slocum's third tournament since switching to the RIP™.

"The thing I loved about this golf course is that you had to be pretty accurate off the tee," Slocum said after winning The Barclays.

Because of the layout of the course Slocum said that players were basically forced to hit driver in some spots, which he felt played to his advantage.

"I drove the ball pretty well this week," he said. "I didn't miss that many fairways."

The longest driver at The Barclays also benefited from Aldila's RIP Technology™ after he made the switch to the RIP™ in his driver and blew away the field with an average of 309.8 yards while the field averaged 277.2 yards. He posted an astounding 323.5-yard average in the final round.

"RIP™ is Aldila's new shaft technology that provides a lower torque, increased tip stability and better tip stiffness control," said Stewart Bahl, Aldila's Marketing Manager. "The RIP™ is currently undergoing testing on the PGA Tour and is scheduled to be launched later this year and will be released in 2010 through some of the major OEM's product lines."

The winner of the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic on the Nationwide Tour used Aldila's VS Proto™ to help notch his first Tour victory after battling for 81 holes and winning on the ninth playoff hole. He was bogey-free for the entire weekend with scores of 68-70-63-64.

"The Hottest Shafts in Golf" also upheld their status as the #1 shaft on Tour by winning both the wood and hybrid shaft manufacturer counts on the PGA Tour, the Nationwide Tour and the U.S. Amateur Championships, according to the Darrell Survey.

Aldila once again dominated the hybrid shaft manufacturer counts on Tour with nearly a 3 to 1 margin of hybrid shafts in play over the next leading manufacturer at The Barclays, nearly a 2 to 1 advantage on the Nationwide Tour and more than a 2 to 1 margin at the U.S. Amateur Championships.

Aldila had an impressive total of 105 VooDoo® shafts featuring S-core Technology™ in play between the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and the U.S. Amateur Championships this week.

"Players continue to choose the VooDoo® after experiencing the stability, accuracy and increased distance of its stabilized core," said Bahl. "The real 'magic' is the VooDoo's internal carbon fiber rib system that runs the length of the shaft and dramatically stabilizes its cross-section. The innovative rib structure increases hoop strength/stiffness so much that it is 80 percent greater than conventional graphite, and up to 60 percent greater than competitors' attempts at cross-sectional stabilization. The VooDoo® simply helps generate consistently straight and long shots -- with feel competitor shafts can't match."

Aldila has the unique ability to fuse high-end design with cutting edge technology. They are continually on the leading edge of the golf world through their relentless pursuit of the next best innovation. Are you playing Aldila or just graphite?
