  • Theresa "Kim" Guillot was shocked in 2018 when an eviction notice was posted on her home by P&G Real Estate Acquisition, which bought her Roger Road house at a tax sale that never should have taken place.

A Scott, Louisiana woman, identified only as "Jane Doe" in court documents, successfully regained possession of her home after being wrongfully evicted by her landlord, who mistakenly believed she had abandoned the property. The eviction occurred in November 2023, when the landlord, without prior notice, changed the locks and removed her belongings. Jane Doe, who was away visiting family, returned to find herself locked out. She took legal action, and in a ruling by Judge Scott Privat on February 2, 2024, it was determined that the eviction was unlawful due to lack of proper notice and procedure. The judge ordered the landlord to return the property to Jane Doe, cover her legal fees, and compensate her for the distress caused. This case highlights the importance of following legal eviction protocols to protect tenants' rights.
