  • An all-in-one operating system developed in Japan, it is fully customizable from setup to operation and is available on GitHub. The University of Osaka, Fujitsu Limited, Systems Engineering Consultants Co.

Scientists from the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Chicago have developed an open-source operating system named BQSKit (Berkeley Quantum Synthesis Toolkit) for quantum computers. This new OS aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of quantum computing by optimizing the control of quantum bits (qubits). BQSKit focuses on improving quantum circuit synthesis, which involves arranging quantum operations in a way that minimizes errors and maximizes performance. The toolkit includes tools for quantum circuit compilation, optimization, and verification, making it easier for researchers and developers to work with quantum hardware. By making BQSKit open-source, the team hopes to foster collaboration across the quantum computing community, accelerate the development of quantum technologies, and address some of the key challenges in scaling up quantum systems.
