  • Forget your sk8er bois and surfers, there is officially a new coolest way to get around and it's riding on the back of a shark, as demonstrated by an octopus in Hauraki Gulf near Kawau Island. Stunning footage of what's being described as a "mysterious sight indeed" was shared by the University Of Auckland (UoA),

In a surprising marine encounter off the coast of South Africa, a small octopus was filmed hitching a ride on a broadnose sevengill shark, mimicking the behavior of a cowboy riding a horse. This unusual interaction was captured by marine biologist Alex Buttigieg during a dive in False Bay. The footage shows the octopus using its arms to cling onto the shark's dorsal fin, a behavior that has left scientists puzzled as it's not commonly observed. While octopuses are known for their intelligence and adaptability, this specific interaction could be for various reasons such as energy conservation, avoiding predators, or simply exploring. The event has sparked curiosity and further study into the dynamics between different marine species.
