ISRO Kulasekarapattinam spaceport will see first SSLV launch in 2027

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch its first Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) from the new Kulasekarapattinam spaceport in Tamil Nadu by 2027. This development was announced by ISRO Chairman S Somanath, who also mentioned that the spaceport's construction is expected to be completed by March 2025. The SSLV, designed to cater to the launch of small satellites, will benefit from the new facility's strategic location which offers a direct southward trajectory over the ocean, enhancing launch efficiency and safety. The spaceport will also support the growing demand for small satellite launches, aligning with global trends in space technology. Additionally, the project is anticipated to boost local employment and development in the region.
