Market Maker Surveillance Report. STM, CIG, MCHP, SFUN, GDX, FB, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Thursday, February 9th 20
February 9, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5251 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4227 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2167 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. STMicroelectronics NV (NYSE:STM), Companhia Energtica de Minas Gerais - CEMIG (NYSE:CIG), Microchip Technology Incorporated (NASDAQ:MCHP), Fang Hldg (NYSE:SFUN), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX), Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .
Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction STM $-0.280 -0.02% 4,721,556 38.84% 1,879,125 15.46% 2,842,431 Abnormal CIG $-0.040 -0.01% 4,870,284 43.42% 2,282,400 20.35% 2,587,884 Abnormal MCHP $-3.350 -0.05% 7,204,914 26.67% 4,994,089 18.48% 2,210,825 Abnormal SFUN $-0.100 -0.03% 5,953,695 59.66% 1,627,066 16.30% 4,326,629 Abnormal GDX $-0.660 -0.03% 29,302,206 34.97% 18,865,786 22.51% 10,436,420 Abnormal FB $-0.100 -0.00% 7,032,266 43.15% 4,959,346 30.43% 2,072,920 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows STM with 2,842,431 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.28000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
