Fairfield Home Invasion: Three Arrested, Fourth Suspect Sought
Hartford CourantLocale: UNITED STATES

FAIRFIELD, CT - March 8, 2026 - Fairfield Police have made significant progress in the investigation of a home invasion that occurred on Maplewood Road on February 8th, 2026, with three individuals now facing felony charges. Authorities are also on the verge of apprehending a fourth suspect, bringing the investigation closer to resolution.
The arrested individuals - Jacob Allen, 22, of Bridgeport; Brittany Morales, 24, of Norwalk; and David Olsen, 31, of Trumbull - were taken into custody on Thursday and charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree larceny, and third-degree criminal mischief. Each is currently being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 12th.
Details of the Crime and Investigation
The incident unfolded at a residence on Maplewood Road during the early part of February. The homeowner, who was thankfully not present at the time of the break-in, returned to a scene of considerable damage and discovered a number of valuable possessions missing. Police responded to the scene and immediately initiated an investigation, collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.
According to the arrest warrant, the suspects forcibly entered the home, causing significant property damage in the process. Stolen items included jewelry and a variety of electronic devices, indicating a targeted and planned operation rather than a crime of opportunity. Investigators have been tight-lipped regarding specifics of the evidence that led to the arrests, but sources indicate a combination of forensic analysis, neighborhood surveillance footage, and perhaps confidential informant information contributed to identifying the suspects.
Rising Concerns About Home Invasion Rates
This incident comes at a time when concerns about home invasions are on the rise nationally, and locally within Fairfield County. While official crime statistics for 2026 aren't fully compiled yet, preliminary data suggests a noticeable increase in residential burglaries compared to the previous year. Experts attribute this trend to a complex interplay of factors, including economic hardship stemming from lingering effects of the 2024 recession, increased opioid addiction rates leading to property crimes committed to fund habits, and potentially, a reduction in community policing initiatives in some areas.
"We've seen a worrying uptick in these types of crimes," stated Detective Sergeant Emily Carter, a crime analyst with the Fairfield Police Department. "It's not just Fairfield; neighboring towns are reporting similar patterns. We're urging residents to take extra precautions to secure their homes and report any suspicious activity immediately."
Police Efforts and Community Safety
Fairfield Police Lieutenant Michael Pacelli emphasized the department's commitment to ensuring the safety of the community. "We're working diligently to identify and apprehend the fourth suspect," Pacelli said Friday. "An arrest warrant is in the process of being obtained, and we expect to have them in custody shortly."
Beyond the ongoing investigation, the Fairfield Police Department is actively increasing patrols in residential areas, particularly during evening and overnight hours. They are also offering free home security assessments to residents, providing guidance on improving security measures such as reinforcing doors and windows, installing alarm systems, and utilizing outdoor lighting. The department is also partnering with the local Neighborhood Watch program to encourage community involvement in crime prevention.
Preventive Measures for Residents
Residents are encouraged to implement the following measures to protect their homes:
- Secure doors and windows: Ensure all doors and windows are locked, even when you are home.
- Install an alarm system: A monitored alarm system can deter burglars and alert authorities in the event of a break-in.
- Use outdoor lighting: Illuminate your property with motion-sensor lights to discourage intruders.
- Trim landscaping: Keep bushes and shrubs trimmed to eliminate hiding spots.
- Be aware of your surroundings: Report any suspicious activity to the police.
- Don't advertise your absence: Avoid posting about vacations on social media.
Anyone with information regarding the Maplewood Road home invasion, or the identity of the fourth suspect, is urged to contact the Fairfield Police Department at (203) 254-4800.
